Our Big Night Out

Hubby and I ventured into Edmonton Saturday night.
We went to see "Whose Live Anyway?", a live stand-up improv
show with some of the cast from Whose Line Is It Anway?

Sadly, that show ended some time ago. It was a gem.
Anyway, the Whose Live Anyway? cast consisted of (L to R)
Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Chip Esten, and Jeff Davis.

Despite having back row seats, the show was great.
Was only a hour and a bit, could have been longer,
but was great nonetheless. The show was at the River Cree Casino.

Now, hubby and I never go to Casinos. They just
don't interest us. So we are on our way into the
show, held in a room inside the Casino. The show
started at 8:00, and it is about 7:30 when we
are heading in. We pass slot machines on the way.
Hubby I said, let's try $20 before we head in.
Sure hubby says. So, we put $20 in.

About 1 minute and 8 dollars later, the machine starts
going ding ding ding and our credits start going up.
Now it wasn't a fortune mind you, but never going to
Casinos we were pretty excited by our $150 win. It paid
for our night out as tickets were $60 each.

So after the show, we decide to treat ourselves with
a meal in one of their restaurants. We are getting near
the end of our meal and who walks in but Greg Proops
from the cast. He goes to the buffet, and then sits at
the table next to us. I gave him a few minutes to get
settled (being the polite Canadian I am) and then went
over to meet him and get his autograph. I even got a
loveheart on it. Hubby also went to meet him, but did not
get an autograph with a love heart.

I think hubby is jealous of my love heart.

Bizarre Food

Hubby and I are addicted this show called
Bizarre Foods by Andrew Zimmern.

They feature weird and unusual foods from all over
the world. And when I say weird, I mean weird.
Bizarre or weird does not accurately describe
the food on this show. So, this blog is about food
from the show, as well as other tidbits I have found.
Enjoy...but not during lunch.

This is a popular fish in Buenos Aires, a Dorado.
They only like the head.

I have recently become a huge fan of frog legs.
I Found a great place in Chinatown, Edmonton that
makes amazing frog legs - Pagolac.
Not sure about toads, but I'd try them.
These fresh frogs and toads are from Bangkok.

Again from Bangkok, yummy Pork Brain Soup.
The Pagolac sells Stomach and Intestine Soup.

How about some BBQ'd Rat from Thailand?

Thailand also loves their Beetle Salad.

Or maybe grilled snakes are more your thing...

Not for the diet-conscious - Fatty Cow Kidney from Buenos Aires.

Don't want to eat the whole fish? Try Fish Stomachs.

Surprisingly, in West Virginia you can satisfy your
craving for Squirrel Heads.

A South Korean Snack sold on the streets...
Roasted Silk Worms....

But the Sulawesi (Indonesia) prefer roasted snails.

Nothing like Braised Giant Blue Fin Tuna Eyes to open your eyes

I will feature weird foods now and then. I think it
is an interesting blog topic. Check back for updates!
